How RAW Sessions Became a Student-Led Success Story
Native Next Academy & Native Radio CIC
Some of the most powerful ideas begin with a simple conversation.
RAW Sessions was created to provide emerging artists and creatives with an authentic platform to showcase their talents, tell their stories, and connect with new audiences. What makes the project truly special is that it was built from the ground up alongside students and young creatives who acted as co-producers throughout the development process.
From the very beginning, RAW Sessions has also been strengthened through local industry collaboration, including partnerships with Cardiff-based independent music spaces such as Digger’s Club Record Store, helping connect emerging talent with the grassroots music scene and authentic industry environments.
Students were involved in planning, production, artist liaison, content development, filming, broadcasting, and promotion. They didn't just participate in the project—they helped shape it.
Today, RAW Sessions stands as a powerful example of what can happen when young people are trusted with responsibility, given access to professional support, and encouraged to bring their ideas to life.
The programme continues to provide practical experience while creating valuable content that celebrates emerging talent across Wales.
"When young people become creators rather than consumers, extraordinary things happen."
